They can get worms,,,, but yeah tastes like poo soaked in wee.
But there is a recipe that makes them palatable.
Get a big pot, cut large cross section chunks of Sambo and boil away in the pot, put in also two bricks.
One hour later, throw the Samson chunks away, and eat the bricks,,,,, ha ha ha ha

We got into some snapper and a mate got a sambo on the weekend, needless to say the sambo is swimming around Rottnest somewhere.

I am not a huge fan of the big operators like Mills or Blue Juice.
Try Shikari (spelling?) and Jazz charters. Jazz in particular are doing very well on shallow water pink snapper and sambos.
Good luck with your quest to catch a monster.

No size pink snapper, biggest was 45cm. Buddy dropped one boat side somehow that would have gone around the 70cm.
Had some fun on some shallow water sambos. Had some sharks chasing them up to the boat. Most of the sharks were fairly small that were chasing the sambos, I reckon the sharks were lucky the sambos were hooked or they'd kick the sharks asses.
Hooked a couple unstoppables at night too, one was a suspected Mako, with the speed it was peeling 50lb line off a locked up Stella. Been a while since I've hooked and landed a Mako but that first run is unmistakable.

Well, I can now tick this one off the list for me. It's always been a big one for me too, always been envious when people have posted pics of Metro Macks. Got this guy at about 6:30am this morning. Could't be happier with the result. Really put in the hours chasing Tuna over the last 2 years with many many hours spent trolling. Today was the first day we have really specifically targeted Macks and it paid off.

Massive buzz.
Good when a plan comes off too. Will put in some serious time over the next 4-6 weeks on the Macks + Dolphin Fish while the water is warm .hen I'm of to Wagoe for a week to chase some Landbased Mulloway and Pinks.

I actually had to look up what a Golden Maverick was not a term I am familiar with - but it appears to be a Mahi Mahi/Dolphin Fish?
'The Golden Maverick'
Caught a few of them now. Not really big 4-7kg. Don't really get monstrous in Metro waters, if you get one 10kg + you are doing very well. Next time I am holidaying in a known Mahi area, I will be booking charters to chase down a big bull. As it is on the list.

They are experts at throwing hooks when they jump and shake their heads.
Making a youtube channel would take a considerable amount of time to edit footage etc. I take pics and that's enough, I have a reasonable following on instagram.

One of the days, not a breeze and water was lead, hardly any decent fish to be had, we then ventured out to a distant bait school and cut the engine and started flicking lures and mulies.
Before we knew it, our boat became a FAD for dolphinfish,,, they literally sat under the boat with noses poking out just enough for us to see,,, we dropped baits on their noses and they'd scream straight outwards.
14-16kg range a very strange day and remembered well.
Well done by the way on that spaniard by the way Alex,,, there are many people that wouldn't realize how exceptional it is to go out and catch one of these local.

Sounds like a ripper day on the dollies. Good size too. Great table fish, just don't freeze all that well.
Thanks mate, pretty chuffed with the capture. With the weather looking the goods, going to drop the boat in the water nice and early on Saturday morning, work the inshore reefs looking for another Mack, then motor out to the FADs and try pick up some dollies. Toying with the idea of towing the boat to Jurien on Sunday morning and doing a day trip up there.
When I'm not fishing, I'm talking about it, when I'm not talking about it I'm thinking about it. I get some work and sleep time in somewhere in between.
