Hi,
Sorry guys, got you all excited lol well the guy at city farmers said that when he rang his supplier bach she said that they're not in "season"(never knew fish could be in 'season') this"season" is july to september. They cant get prices or any idea of how many there will be so give them a call between july and september on 08 9240 1188.

Yes Matt, I know about the seasonal thing and thought it was all too good to be true but a big thank you for all your efforts anyway

Actually they are right, it is a seasonal thing, they harvested during a particular time of year overseas

maybe the "season" is the same season as the pleco season, where all of a sudden small plecos come onto the market.
I remember hearing a rumour that the pleco's available (P. multiradiatus) that are for sale are bred in earthen ponds in QLD. Though I heard another rumour that the QLD guys are saying they're bred in earthen ponds in WA.
If this is indeed true, it's possible, on a practical basis that the same could be done for H.zebra, though personally putting fish that are worth hundreds of dollars worth in outdoor ponds would be to risky, as the chances of predators seeing them, I imagine would be pretty high.
It's kind of funny in that they say you can never truely know everything about fish, especially when rumours such as these are based on heresay
