In my experience, no puffers can be considered good community tank candidates. They eventually harass all other tank mates even if initially appearing to accept them.

You could try Swan river gobys, I reckon they would eat hardyheads so prob not a option.
Definately get some kind of salinity test they won't survive indefinitely in freshwater, but should cope for several months without salt.

Recently purchased two little freshwater (I suspect they are actually brackish) puffer fish (9cm). I was told they were natives but the shop knew nothing much else about them. They were sold to me as Banded Puffer Fish but I suspect they are Marilyna Darwinii or something very similar. I'll try to get some photos of them tonight, very cool little fish and super active. Any other fish shops come across anything similar on their supply lists?Wouldnt mind getting a couple more for a puffer display tank in the new place!
