very difficult to plant in a tall tank, but I managed eventually.. Any tips from people who have tall tanks that struggle to reach their substrate?

well apart from growing longer arms /employing a primate I would suggest a small step ladder or one of those 1m long work frames from bunnings but your tank is looking great and im sure will be getting better as time goes

Tie them to pebbles or wood and just drop them in place. You can also buy long plastic tongs, most fish shops sell them, i think there aqua one tongs. There about a foot and a half long, great for arm extension.

Haha! I do have a small step ladder that I use, but I still can't reach the very bottom to plant it deep in the substrate. Yeah slowly getting there. My next thing to do is attach some Java on driftwoodwell apart from growing longer arms /employing a primate I would suggest a small step ladder or one of those 1m long work frames from bunnings but your tank is looking great and im sure will be getting better as time goes
Yep that's exactly what I did attaching them to a pebble and then using long tongs to put sand over itTie them to pebbles or wood and just drop them in place. I purchased the discus in groups so I couldn't really pick and choose, they all seemed pretty well and healthy from my experience with fish keeping. However, I don't know much about 'stunted' discus or what to look out for

well basically the shape and the large eyes are a clear indication of a stunted discus, however i;ve had some discus that i thought were stunted and even some so called expert discus keepers said they were stunted but turned out just fine. so just keep up those water changes and plenty of protein and see how you go.

In person they all seem pretty fine and in proportion, only time will tell if I do have any stunted discus.
i just feed them 2 times per day. And do 3x water changes weekly. Cutting back to twice a week now though as don't have time.

Peacock bass? Would look wicked, at some point in time I'll own one, just not now with the discus.

Other than that, you would have to order them in I think for some $$$
On another note:
Look what spawned today.
My two super veil angels
Will move them into my spare 200L tank today and give them a few shots of raising their eggs, because I don't want them stressing my discus.
