I have 9 tanks in my garage (No insulation) all still hovering within a degree of 25. During the day I leave the door from my house to garage open with the evap air con from my house on and blowing through into he garage. still warm in there but not hot.
Outdoor pond tank was up to 27 yesterday with no controls in place.
Tanks in my house are about 24 with air con on about 16 hours a day (Wifey and kids like air con).

31.4 in the jack tank this morning, he still looks to be comfortable though. Might freeze some 2l milk bottles and put one in before work if it gets any warmer though.

Will need more than one . Does anyone recall Yr12 physics - specific heat, QFusion, etc.
Having read your MJ thread recently Ice, your tank is ~1000L. Some back of the envelope calc show you would need 10kg ice to get 1degC temp drop.
Very basic rule of thumb in current temps (~30 degC) would need 1kg ice per 100L to acheive 1 degC drop.
I have included a web page that will do a calc if anyone else is interested for a quick indication on what would be needed in their own tanks.

If you have powerfilters inside your tanks that are only there for water movment, turn them off and add airdriven sponges or stones. You will surprised how much heat an internal filter will generate.

I am surprised how effective the little fan turned out to be. My tank was going to be heading for 29 on Monday (27 Sat, 28 Sun), but by running the fan overnight instead of just when the lights were on, it peaked at 26.5. Cheap cooling!

Has anyone plugged heaters back in as a result of the cooler weather? My garage tanks are down to 23ish degrees... I know thats not extreme but was just wondering how others have gone over the last couple of weeks.

I've got two 3ft tanks that dont have lids on them, found both of them require a heater as I rarely use the lights. My 2ft however is the other side of the story because it's heavily planted and has a lid to stop escapees

Nope, if anyone is keeping Malawi's they will prefer the cooler end of the scale anyways
My tanks got warm today, hitting 28c. I'll just leave the shed door open and the pedestal fan on.
