i was at aquotix on the weekend... if i remember correctly its only 5 bucks a pack.... gives you 7 x 5 = 35 cubes... around 14 cents a cube.....
worth hitting the freeway and get off at roe hwy and then right onto willeri drive then left onto bannister... about 5-6 shops up on right hand side.... cant miss them... take sum extra cash cause you'll see something else you may want....
as long as the b/n get some greenage off your tanks glass.... and some wood to chew on would help too... maybe stick some zucchinni on a fork(to sink it to the bottom) for them to chew on...

i grow my own zucchinnis and have had them 50cm long and a diameter of about 15cm.... takes 3 forks to hold one half , cut longways , down to the bottom of the tank.....
took 4-500 b/n 3 days to completely strip it to shreds... adults tend to have a good chew on the skin also....

I've tried wardleys and NLS wafers so far. No deal on both of them, but they will eagerly devour zuccini and nls cichlid formula as soon as it hits the bottom.

Johnno the wierd thing is the ones you gave me sank as well in my tanks.....
These are a much darker colour compared to yours and possibly no carrot.......(not orange bits in cube) and no they are not the ocean onces, the staff at aquottix acutelly picked them out for me and i double checked they are for freshwater, and not the seewater ones.

Because there the best, everything loves them in my tank and i've tried the others (nls, wardley, hikari).I believe it's the ingredients HBH has more variety spirulina, alfalf, pea powder, shrimp meal, carrot, spinach, kelp just to name a few. The other brands are pretty much the same fish meal, wheat flour, wheat germ, starch with krill and spirulina a long way down the list.cheers steve

What was the outcome of this? Was there any noticable difference in the health of the fish and there reproducing habits?
These vege cubes, are they just par boiled veges mushed up and put in a cube and frozen, or are they raw?
In saying that though, if they're 14c a cube, then it'd be easier to just buy them than do them urself.
