Hang on, one minute you said frozen water is no help and now you're telling me that i should use both frozen water and fan? LOL, sorry i must have misunderstood you!
You don't suppose I go out to buy 10 fans if I have 10 tanks and pack them away when the heat wave over, do you?
Does your fish jump? Mine do, so I don't think leaving the lids open for me is wise!
I do not disagree with you that using 'fan blow is an effective way to lower tank temperature', all I said that 'the size of the ice block vs the size of the fan' are the variables one need to consider so therefore you are incorrect to say that 'fan blow is more effective than ice cube'. If you are going to quote 'research shown' then you must have some figures to back it up or maybe a link.
You do drink beer, don't you? do you use fan to keep the beer cold in the bucket or do you use ice? Exactly, size does matter!
There are other variables that could assist to speed up or slow down the melting process such as: water flow/air bubbles/the amount
of rocks/lighting intensity etc
Let take water flow variable as an example, 2 glasses of Scotch with same a mount of ice cubes and same amount of scotch.
One glass you constantly stir and the other you let it to melt. Which one you reckon will melt faster? Exactly, water movement/flow
will assist the melting process to go faster!
Now, let add an other variable to the equation: 'fan' vs 'stir'
...errummmm...sorry!
*I have not got to this stage of yet because I could not wait hahaha...but you could try and let me know!
Mate, relax...just having a bit of fun...and don't take thing too seriously...temp is raising and i am off to Kal for some more testing! This time explosive!
cheers,
PS,
My cost is a bit different than yours?...let see...
My costs = (prices x 2 fans) + (power to run 2 x fans) + [(a lot of DEAD fishes (jump)]!
or
My costs = 6 bucks of ice bags from Thirsty Camel!
Which one should i chose?
