Bro that's looking sweet!! Everything's thriving and I see the algae problems are no longer :)
How's your dumb tang going? :)

That damnnnn Tang!! I'm going to change my stock around soon I really need to get rid of some of the snails as they knock a lot of shit around and I think I have too many hermit crabs.
My peppermint shrimp of full of babies too 3 big female fulllllll.
The tang will need to go soon but I really like how she gets in there and grazes on the coral does a great job at eating algae and stirring the nooks and crannies up.
My Blue chromi annoys the crap out of it's too fast. I'm after a nice chill tank and these crazy crabs and Chromis and turbo snails are starting to bother me. I just feel so limited as to what I put in there :(

There's a huge range you can go for mate, it's just a matter of mix n match! Sure stuff dies but that's part of the hobby, there's sooooooo many variables to each individual setup you never know what will work for you :)
And I didn't realise crabs were Mexican?? Or is that an import haha :)

Been super paranoid about phosphates lately so I have installed a rear spray bar that sits on the bottom and sprays in to the back of the rocks.
It blew up so much crap - I put in a powerhead with mechanical filtration to clean the water and boy it looks good now.
No dead spots for sediment of food to hide will hopefully stop any phosphate problems.

Now considering removing a lot of my gravel as I'm starting to see gas bubbles building up (I assuming it's now a good gas)

What would this be ?

Hmm... I'm guessing co2.... Or just air maybe?? I've got no idea?? Could be worms digging through the sand maybe?

Anyway sounds like it's going nicely, good job on the spay bar, the crap builds up in the smallest crevices, the rock can totally handle some water flow, I ran 2x 4000lt/hr wavemakers in my 2x2 sounds like a lot but it was perfect to keep the tank nice n clean :)

So I ran in to some big problems.

With the addition of the added pump and spray bar, the restrictiveness of the hydor flo and the adjustment of one of the pumps (sinking deeper in the rear) it caused a really big problem.

The reduced water flow and additional heat got the tank hot (29.8) which is hot hot.
It was a pretty frantic moment of removing, changing, swapping and modifying with what I had laying around but I got it all sorted. I actually managed to make some significant modifications that actually increase the water flow significantly (Red Sea Quotes theirs originally does 1150lph) and now I get 1550lph. Albeit minus a spray bar but the extra water movement is really pumping and has let me relocate my powerhead to blow to the back of the corals (there was a few dead spots where my star polyps especially really disliked the lack of flow but that's where I wanted the corals).

The tank before sat at around 26.8, it got to just under 30 and NOW it is sitting at 25.2!!!!!!!!!! HOORAY
I am so stoked and to say there is a different in the corals is an understatement (my cat looks MUCH better). I didn't lose anything except all the shrimp I caught at Hillarys Marina which I feed to the corals anyway and froze the rest for food.

Pictures time

Well Done! Photos are looking great. I am just waiting for the hot weather to pass before I start renovating my tank, then I will post more photos.
