#363777 How Much Should I Sell My Aquariums For?

Posted by bigjohnnofish on 23 October 2017 - 02:15 AM

Ask 50 and then prob get knocked down to 25...

If you advertised for example a 6x2x2 for 400 bucks you'll get offers of 200 no doubt....

If you went for 200 bucks as advertised price you'd cop 100 buck offer...

And so forth... till you say free.... but blow me down they will ask you to deliver it no doubt

My opinion....

7 footer is custom size so maybe 300 to 400 buckeroos....

4.5 footer is a nice size so 200 to 250 big ones...

2.5 footer couple large pizzas...

2 small tanks maybe 6 pack beer.....

Clean tanks up and take some nice pics... should get a bit more maybe... but economy is rat crap and no one wants to spend their moolah unless they are getting absolute bargain... and feel like they have stolen your tanks for a sweet penny...

Quarantine would probably have staff that could do that presentation.  It would help members understand the costs and effort associated with getting rare and special specie into the state and stop some of the criticism that comes up when there are imports.

In all honesty olley or pacco would know more than quarantine staff...

How about some water chemistry and educating people to keep pristine water quality and parameters.... then your fish will hardly ever succumb to disease or infections...and a bonus your fish might breed too.. some people still have no idea what kh is and how it effects your water and fish survival.... how to look after your beneficial bacteria better....

#363163 Is It Worth Looking Around For In Australia?

Posted by bigjohnnofish on 03 September 2017 - 02:50 AM

Ĺ071 , L181 , L249 more likely resemble what we have in Australia.... these 3 numbered fish could well be the same just collected from different tributaries of the Amazon.... its also been said by some very old and wise fish keepers the peppermint bn we have is most likely a hybrid anyway... the fact that pepps wont cross breed with other ancistrus backs up hybrid theory as L183 is ancistrus dolichopterus and doesnt crossbreed with ancistrus sp. So possibly what we have has some L183 in it or a variation of L183... no one really knows with 100% certainty

I'd be keen to try a small sample of these for perch and bream?

If that's possible

#362743 Can You Get Rid Of Duck Weed

Posted by bigjohnnofish on 28 July 2017 - 01:32 AM

put a goldfish in your tank and it will eat it all to extinction... add more goldfish if its a big tank or pond.... just plain goldfish dont bother with fancies :)

when its nearly all eaten splash around the lips and any cover glass to get any remaining bits into the water....

now you see it - now you dont...... big thud from powerful jaws and hey presto where did it go....usually happened at night so i didnt see bigger ones go - just an array of scales on the tank floor and occasionally parts of a back bone....

seen plenty of 5-10cm fish disappear though....
