Spotting A Holding Female
11 April 2013 - 09:41 PM
My tank houses 30 odd malawis.. Still smallish... But are showing signs of breeding (digging, dancing etc)
I've got a grow out tank now and a holding net ready just incase .. But my fish move way to fast to try and spot a holding female .. So is there any tricks to this because I'm new to the whole Malawi breeding thing
Thanks

Elec Yellows Circling
21 March 2013 - 09:36 PM
Hi all,
Just went to turn my tank lights off for the night and caught two of my electric yellows circling with each other...? I stood there for a little bit watching as it went on.. They would circle, then dart off 4-8cm... Then back to circling..
Is this breeding behavior? What size are they mature enough to breed?
And also if this is breeding behavior will it affect my need to do a water change this Saturday?
Thanks

Tank Lighting Led?
17 March 2013 - 06:53 PM
Looking into new lighting for my 6ft.
Currently has a 4ft twin t5 set up but one of the ballasts has died so I've lost my white tube and currently have blue only.. The blue tube only lights the tank really well (see my display thread for a pic)
Has anyone seen or used the lights I'm about to link from eBay??
http://www.ebay.com....#ht_3865wt_1132
I'm wondering how well they will light the tank for the money spent...
Other suggestions will be appreciated.... I'm chasing a blue and white lighting set up.. That's good for lighting the entire tank... And is also good for my electricity bill.... (individual switching per tube isn't required but would be cool)
Thanks
