#362130 Fish Of The Month - Metriaclima Hajomaylandi

Also a different "strain" to the fish from the bloke humbug is talking about and the eastern states source. So we're in a good position to bring these guys back from the brink with some help from other hobbyists wanting to give them a go.
Didn't realise they were also listed as vulnerable in the wild. With any luck I'll spot some at Chizumulu this November
#361565 Safe Size To Move Cichlids On?

When trading with lfs I try to get it closer to 5cm so they can sell easier. When buying I like at least 5cm as it's much easier to see deformities
#361497 Auction Roundup - May 2017

Yep great wrap up.
I agree that the atmosphere was a bit flat to start with. A lot of new faces though and I think a lot of people there were trying to get a sense of how things worked. Once they did, it seemed to spark up and some pretty fun conversation at the break and after the auction finished.
My theory, and just a theory cos I haven't done any analysis to prove it, is that lots that haven't been seen for a while or at all at previous auctions tend to attract bids. Lots where there are several of the same type or they've been at every auction for the past three years generally tend to struggle. I'm primarily basing this on things like electric yellows, afra cobue and mainganos. They used to be all over the place at auction time and you were lucky to get a dollar per fish. Haven't seen these fish for a while and last night they were pretty much at that $7 a fish mark.
My advice to future sellers is that you'll get more attention for your lots if you mix it up a bit rather than put the same thing in all the time.

#361374 Roe 8 Protests: Good Bad Or Ugly?

Interesting to see what's coming out of the wash hey. I'm not surprised though - this was Barnetts style and we have suffered because of it. Don't believe me - read up on the Fiona Stanley hospital project management. Asbestos, budget blowouts ohs incidents - go on and look it up. It's just one example!
I don't know about you guys but I tend to get very skeptical when vested interests ie the consultants, tell me there is no issue and everything has been done by the book. This article above quotes some of the leading academic views in the state and their opinions on the validity of the project. These views consider other similar projects in different states which to me gives these views a lot of credibility.
One point that seemed very relevant to me was that there has been no planning for the next stage of this project. So we have no, zero, nada idea about whether the freight link can actually be completed. I'm no Rhodes scholar but to me, committing half a billion to finish half a project when you don't know how it can be completed is what is defined as a frivolous waste of tax dollars. Thank god mcgowan has the balls to stay firm despite public outcry from numbskulls, axe this dumb project, save us from further extreme debt and put priority into saving us from wasting this money by reallocating the committed resources to other much needed transport projects. Kwinana port is inevitable guys - wake up!the conservationists have already and are positioning themselves to try and ensure this major project has minimum environmental impact, not block progress!
Any update on the final cost blowout? Have heard the number rise to $148m in some media comments and I'm waiting to be held to account for earlier comments I made here. What a load of bollocks!!!

But take a walk along a beach and you'll find enough - won't be escargot shells but just as effective
