Scientific Name: Labeotropheus trewavasae
Pronunciation: Lab-e-o-tro-fee-us tree-wav-sae
Trade Name(s): None
Distribution: Lake Wide Distribution.
Habitat: Rocky coastline.
Diet: Aufwuchs, Algae
Sexing: Many different color variations from different locations.
Maximum Size: 17cm
Temperature: 24 to 26c
pH: 7.5 to 9.0
Water Hardness: 300-400ppm
Availability: Commonly Available in Oz.
Comments: A very odd looking species to some. Their overhanging mouth is used to scrape algae from rocks.
Males in Australia are usually blue, Females are usually OB or orange.
This species is more slender than Labeotropheus fulleborni, Male Labeotropheus trewavasae are elongate like the elongatus group & IMO look better than Labeotropheus fulleborni, but it comes down to personal preference.
