Hey guys It def been my week, as on post below my Pbass have spawned again, now amazingly in my community tank I have always had discus laying but my Large 18cm turq layed with my 15cm wild blue discus :) Def something worth putting in there own tank. its been just over 2 days, still getting guarded which is a huge shock since discus take at least 10 tries to get it right as they have to learn what there doing. Today I had a look and there fertile :D few white ones but most are fertile!! yay see what happens, hopefully I might see wrigglers tomorrow or next day before they get eaten, than into there own tank (anyone have any cheap breeding cones give me a shout)

Heres some pics :)

Great MattyB,

You are definitely doing something right.
Should get you as a special guest expert speaker at the next PCS meeting.

Thanks guys its my pride and joy :)

A expert speaker :s lol I dunno about that, I know my stuff but I don't know about the title expert lol. here is the tank specs and a quick video of tank

6x2x2.5 Full custom 3d background

Co2 injected with a ph controller (stabilising ph exacly to 6.5)

Mainly got the co2 as I do 2 50 percent water changes a week, I don't like using buffers as it just stresses discus out too much trying to level it over a couple of hours and the amount of water changes that just too much stress.

Fx6 for filter

Don't forget to put vid in HD

I'd leave them in there and take the others out, the fry won't survive a change in water parameters.

eggs are gone but I know they were Hong to get eaten, might even been wrigglers that were eaten. so will be setting up a trickle water changing system for baby grow outs as they need daily water changes

I don't agree with this at all. Standard practice in this situation would be to fill up the fry rearing tank full of water from the parent tank + biological media from the parent tank. Removing so many fish from a large established display tank would 'ruin' the display and cause unnecessary stress on the tank inhabitants. Moving so many fish would also have a negative effect on the parents who aren't even being moved.

Well done Matt, doing well. Your fish look great.

i wish I knew the supplier of the wild blue as I brought it from a guy that bought it from another guy from another guy -.- couldn't track it them down as I wanted more. when I set up there own tank hopefully I getting some spawning happening and get more wilds into wa cause its just something you don't see over here and when you do they cost an arm and a leg. this guy alone cost me 220 I think

Not having a go but that doesn't look like a wild blue which is why I was asking.

He was a little stressed in that pic usually a lot more brown in mid body plus turqs domt go brown at all even when stressed. I dunno y it wouldn't look wild lol there no other discus that has brown with the turq colour/patterns

The striations look a lot wider and rounder than a wild blue.  Just because it has brown doesn't mean its a wild fish.

If anything I'd say its got wild in it at most.  Some kind of random mix that just has brown in it.

only way it having brown but not being wild or a mix breed is if it carried on a mutant gene which is 1 million to one chance anf is the only way to get a cross breed of discus which I know it wont be that because that would make the discus worth 10 times more lol. maybe it doesnt have all the characteristics due to not being a aaa discus? I will do some more research.

There are heaps of brown discus getting around here at the moment that go for cheap because they are the runts of the lot.  The ones that didn't show the nice colour that the breeders were expecting.

But you've bred a pair of dicsus once so now you're a pro call it whatever you want ;)
