Bryozoan

There are plenty of varieties of these in freshwater, this one is the most common in freshwater aquaria

Absolutely harmless - a good guide that water conditions are good.

I myself always wondered what that was.
I've got it growing all around my stingrays filters and valves.

Sometimes cichlids jump into my ray chambers,,, and the cichlids don't seem to eat it.
Sometimes when I take a instrument out of the water with it growing on,, I'm pretty sure I can see it moving very slightly,,, creepy looking stuff really.
