Ok thanks Brett
Im starting to get my head around it now , and can work with it to find the best combination for my water quality.
At this stage im fairly sure im going to try 2 200lt plastic drums and play with the water quality in there, hopefully in the future when i get a decicated fish house i will get a much more elaborate system !
Thanks for the help everyone

Hi Craig,
If you are resigned to using 2 x 200lt water drums, why not fit a "diverter" into one of your downpipes.
It won't cost much in the way of time or money to do this.
This way you can use pure rainwater during the winter, you will need to add some nutrients for the plants & then revert back to mains water in the summer.
If you need a hand to fit the diverter just ask. I have a spare one here.
