Like the rest of you I would laugh if i saw this title...haha
Im looking for some nice aquarium furniture but am finding it REALLY hard. I have a 3 foot tank and want a 4 foot stand to utilise either side of the aquarium. I would like the cupboards to hide my cannister and equipment, aswell as use it for general storage.
I have a buffet in mind but it only has a load limit of 80kg....

My tank would be 130kgs. Would it be worth reinforcing the cabinet from the inside, or should i stick to the basic aqua one stands.

Also, does anyone know where i can get the aquatium stands that wont cost me an arm and a leg, or where i can get a nice sturdy buffet (would the pine ones sold be sturdy enough seeing as a basic stand is made from pine)

Cheers and no judgement please.

Hi Jezza

I don't think it's worth the risk of putting your tank on top of a cabinet that's not designed to hold the weight.

Look at the surface area of the cabinet that's in contact with the floor... more surface area equals better weight distribution.

Some TV cabinets work well as aquarium furniture... it just depends on their load carrying ability.

Ideally, you want support all around the edges of the tank and across the middle.

Some of our sponsors have some very nice stands/cabinets and of course, if you become a PCS member, you will also receive a 10% discount.

:D

The cabinet would look nice with a fish tank on top, but it's not something I would risk. Fantastic Furniture is cheap for a reason. Looks nice, but wouldn't be solid enough for a tank on top. You probably could reinforce the cabinet by putting some solid timer inside the cupboard, but I wouldn't risk it. Best off getting a cabinet designed to hold the weight of an aquarium
