Every day I drive past Port Coogee to get to work, which is where the road goes from single to dual lane, then back to single lane

This morning someone sped up to get in the right lane, then was brake checking a 4WD behind him, all the while sitting about 15kmh under the speed limit.

That kind of driving is really annoying to see, and I wish a Police Officer saw it and booked him for dangerous driving

I tend to sit in the left lane, and if I can't do the speed limit, I just kick back and enjoy the music. Helps to have a decent CD collection.

Everyone slams Perth drivers.

There's bad drivers everywhere - recently did a good amount of driving in the US - saw plenty of crazies there.

I've driven in Greece - again, a lot of crazies.

It is just the general public - it is not just localised to Perth. It is a people thing not a Perth thing.

The thing I love the most about driving complaints is everyone always thinks everyone else is a bad driver and they are fantastic! Not sure if I've ever heard someone put their hand up and go "Yep, I stink at driving", so where are all these bad drivers hiding? or is it that people are generally blind to their own driving short comings? Which then breeds more bad driving habits because the bad habits that remain are never rectified?!

:)

The general rule I go by is,

Every group of mates has at least one sucky driver in it... If yours doesn't, it's you!!

I've driven all through Europe and Asia, I'd rather drive in peak hour traffic in Hong Kong than here in Perth.... Just my opinion though, feel free to disagree :)

Peak Hour in Perth is child's play. Worst and most stressful driving I have done is peak hour into LA on a Friday! I probably wouldn't do it again.

its always worse when you dont know the roads and when to get in left lane to turn left or vice versa....

as for bad driving - i can do that too!!! off the clock going down roe hwy and got pinged for 212k in a 90 zone.... good thing it was over 20 years ago cause if you did it now they'd lock you up for a while and impound your car and prob crush it too :)

one i do remember was - checking out this chick in the car next to me on a dual carriage way while stationary at the lights... as the traffic all started to move i moved as well - but dude in front of me didnt as he was checking out the chick going past him till i rear ended him... lol mind you at about 5km hour... no damage to either vehicle but felt like an absolute moron... lol hahahaha

Lol, I've been close to doing that before ^^^^^

But it's notably poor infastructure that was suited to our country bunkyin population a long time ago, then after being poor or insuffient space to make the appropriate modifications.
And poor decisions on infastructure.

Places like china, will wipe out their cultural heritage land to make way for proper highways.
Other places like Germany and Sweden (could be wrong with actual countries), but they have really high speed limits,,, I believe this helps sort the slowys to one side and fastys to the other.

There sure are freaky drivers every where,, but road and infastructure with road rules and limits play a big part how crappy drivers effect the rest of drivers.
I believe I'm a excellent driver and practice defensive driving,,, but at the same time I speed and go against common law (at certain times).
Those that are adjusted a little better can get away with a bit more, if smart enough for the when's, where's and how's.

I was pirvvy to a meeting with the DG for Dept of Transport recently, and you should see the budget the State Government has committed to Transport over the next few years

Will be a lot of roadworks happening if the money is spent wisely

Looks like Health dept will be shafted to give Transport more coin though

Good news for those of us who work in construction/infrastructure - good for the average Joe living in Perth too.

The only people who seem to mind are the people who in my opinion stupidly buy along road reserves along major highways thinking that the highway will never be upgraded and that it will remain unchanged for all eternity!

Yeah I'm sick of hearing about people protesting about the Roe Highway extension

I remember as a kid seeing land reserved for the future Roe Highway, and that was almost 30 years ago!

Shame about Beeliar Wetlands, but you can't stop progress (well maybe the hippies can)

modern technology and the like could well create another wetland closeby to compensate for the loss :)

I always thought they could just put that part of the highway on pillons, leaving the wetlands partly intact?

Read the environmental impact part of roe 8 project and you will see that partial wetlands will stay in place
Also the construction method will cut down on clearing of wetlands (as well as increase cost)

Sometime compromise has to be made, sounds like they have been doing some serious resaerch on it. Nice.
