Sorry to hear that Johnno, thats a real bummer. Tell him to keep his chin up and to try not to laugh as it sounds like it would be painful.

thanks for all the well wishes... its all gotta help....
today he was a lot more talkative as they cut back pain meds today.. got his mobile phone back from one of the ambo drivers (big thanks for that) and we all know how kids cherish their mobile phones!!! had about 140 missed calls and about 170 messages... keep him busy answering most of them and hopefully take his mind of his injuries...
we musta had every specialist doctor in royal perth come through today... eye specialists, bone specialists, trauma doctors, skin specialist, and half a dozen surgeons that are going to be doing the reconstructive surgery etc etc.... i think he likes the sponge baths from his nurse lol... and thanks to kleinz for calling in and saying gday today too.... although you werent there under good circumstances either... got t-boned in his car on friday night by a drunk driver going through a red light...
young fella has made a friend in the trauma unit, chase 26 who fell from scaffolding on to his side and has pretty traumatic injuries to his side... he was told to expect 3-4 weeks before they even think about moving him.... lost a kidney and has pretty severe internal injuries... been on his back now for 2 weeks and cant get up... but 18 and 26 year old boys have plenty to talk about... mostly girls strangely enough... lol must be getting a little better...

Far out Johnno, glad the young fella is alright mate! If hes anything like his old man hell be a tough bugger and have a speedy recovery. Its amazing what they can do with scars these days too mate, if he doesnt want to have any visible ones im sure they will be able to sort it out over time.
Best wishes from me and the family mate.

Sorry to hear that johnno! hope he is doing well! Trauma is one of the best wards i've worked on, the nurses there have extra training ontop of their normal job. So he is in the best hands as i am sure you have seen! And our surgical team do a really great job! All the best to you and the family!

hi furnix... yes nurses are of good quality and the ones we had - also had a good sense of humour.... they needed it as hurt as the young fella is his mouth still spits out a few rude smart arse comments lol... like when chosing which choc drink he wanted... one was lighter coloured the other darker which he said looked like something someone had rimmed out !!! omg - apologies for that!!! lol but it was sorta funny too
good news hes home now!!! dogs loved him like he was gone for years... and dogs all just smelt him and licked him and didnt jump up or misbehave - animals are very smart at times as they knew he wasnt well... but they put a smile on his face surgery has been put off till next week as swelling is still huge... monday - dental appointment to make sure all his teeth are good and his gums have healed.... then more scans and to the operating table....

just like a normal teenager today... except he has a reason to lay about and do stuff all
swelling has come down heaps allowing his right eye to open up a little more but by end of the day it was bloodshot as all hell... more eye drops and rest and hopefully tomorrow will be better again... reckoned he was gonna go see fast n furious 6 tomorrow!!! not yet... mums orders
still has a minimal risk of stroke with brain bleed and his eye... so as much as he doent like it,,, its more rest needed...
