impressed by how smart these fish are, they are now greedily swarming the glass when they see me with food in my hand. and they figured out the camera is not going to hurt them smile.gif xcuse the poor pic, but i cbf getting good ones lol

just for interest, heres a similar sized 'domestic' tiger oscar i had a while ago

and a couple more of the old pics while im here

strikes me that the domestic ones have various slight differences in their head shape and general proportions

also... might just be the camera angles ... but from the pics, the supposed 'wild' ones have quite a distance between the top of the eye and the skull, which seems to be diminished in the other ones. also the indention just above the eye seems less prominent in them as well. or maybe its just the angle!

Have kept them a few years back.. Bought them from Pacco and had them for two years.. Mine looked very similar to Steve's, but a bit more colorful.. I think they tend to be a bit more boisterous than the tank bred ones.. I sold the adults to Morley, they very quickly out grew the tank. There are a few different variants.. Marking and color slightly different, Bolivians, Peru and Brasil.

Cheers for the fish Tranced.

They do look quite different from 'domestic' oscars. The biggest difference is in the attitude. They go absolutely crazy for food and are more agro than regular oscars, which is consistent with what I have gathered from reading online.

Could be the real deal I think... never really know

Either way a really cool fish.

no worries smile.gif they are quite savage little beasts arent they? they seem to squabble heaps in my tank, but when they scared they all bunch together for protection. quite cool to watch smile.gif looking forward to some great pics of yours when they grow up!

My photography skills are less than average, but i'll give it a crack.

Yeah I was surprised at how tightly they huddled together when i first introduced them. They are ferocious feeders, jumping out of the water when I feed them, like they are trying to catch pellets out of the air.

Growing like mad.

Lost one, literally. Can't find it, only thing I can put it down to is it somehow jumped out and the dog ate it.... wink.gif

They are so agro it's a joke as well. I have them in a 5x2x2 with a group of Petenia and they still smash each other even at such a small size, honestly put dovii/jags of the same size to shame!

I know what you mean about food, they literally jump out of the water after food.

If any of you lads wanna sell any when they grow out let me know.

I've kept that many oscars in the past it's not funny. But these guys look awesome! Can't wait to see what they look like in a few months!

Will do mate. I have 5 left. To be honest I will probably only just want a pair out of the group.

I have had oscars before, never really seen much in the way of aggression other than a bit of gill flarring... nothing like the attitude on these guys...

Mine have grown quite a bit since I got them from tranced... they are basically void of colour, just about black and white
