Hi all

This has been in my tank for around 11 months.

As you can see it is forming a lot of bubbles which occasional rise to the top. There is algae on the background but not enough to produce this sort of oxygen bubbles considering the plants in my tank aren't pearling.

The background looks discolored and seems to have lost some of the rocky texture.

It bubbles at night as well - although only a fraction of what it does during the day.

pH ranges between 6.5 - 7.2

Nothing is added to the water apart from seachem prime, seachem plant fertilizer, and API quick start.

Any idea if it is actually disintegrating, the cause and how I can stop it? Anyone experienced this with universal rocks products?

Thanks

Andrew

Never seen a universal backround break down before & many of ours are 10 years or so old. Some slight loss of colour is all.
I suggest you contact universal direct through the website as they would be the most knowledgable.
Keep us posted as i am curious about results.
The bubbles look like the algae 'pearling' to me. Algae is a huge producer of oxygen

Looks like the pearling is only occurring where the algae is?

I don't know too much about O2, CO2 etc. but as plants/algae consume CO2 they release O2 (resulting in the pearling). Is it possible the CO2 is at a higher concentration in that area of the tank and/or the algae is more efficient as consuming it?

I agree just looks to be coming from the algae growth on the back ground. The back ground has just matured and has a lovely natural covering of algae growth, nothing to worry about in my book.
