I'm using Carib-Sea substrate just what you need to keep the water buffered.

Hi Nic,

You would probrably want live rock in it, and i think a 3 footer is way too small for lionfish.

What about dwarf lionfish, would they be small enough to fit in that tank???

I'd love to get a SW tank, but don't have the space or money at the moment to do the job properly, so just holding my horses...

and yeah at Pisces in Willetton they have a bunch of the lionfish and a shark (which i think they have sold)... But while waiting, i'm making sure to do plenty of reading first so don't make costly mistakes... seems the lionfish like to eat invertebates, and seeing i will probably want a few shrimp and crabs (and a single shrimp can cost over $100!!!!) have to decide early exactly what combination of fishes, invertebrates and corals etc i would like to keep....

but still will probably keep a few fresh water tanks as well... doesn't have to be one or the other...

If you're as good at aquascaping marine tanks, as your are planted tanks, this shall be a work of art!

Thanks all
First up i'm not giving my planted tanks away i still have them and as far as i can see i always will.

I just needed more space for my Blue tang and bicolour angel and few other fish that i haven't decided on yet.

ATM i have a linka star fish hermit and a pile of snails.

I'm just waiting on the electrian and some SW to come.

The TS24 kithere basicly power heads that do a lot more than pump water around.
I will updat as i go.

Welcome to the real addiction.

I have easily spent over $8k on my 8x2 reef tank. I have only just now finished with buying live rock! what an expensive process that was.

Only going to be worse when my big mumma is up and running.

I hear you peckoltia lucky for me i had a 4 ft running for nearly 2 years so the cost has been spread over.
Here are a few more pics transfering from small to big

Here it is with the water and some base rocks i had laying around,I got 1800 liter of NSW delivered.
Got the tunze going, not upto speed on how to use them properly but the food timer feature is great.
Lighting for the moment i'm using 2x54 T5's

I decide to add around 10kg more LR

This is my 4ft which will become the sump,So i didn't really bother about cleaning.

The transfering of the livestock was a nightmare, you think you have it all planned out and always somethig goes wrong.
I ended up putting the fish along with everything else snails seastar urchin, straight in had no choice the temp an salinity where about even

Here is the old tank now sump going in i left the old substrate in it.
Since i own a shop that use alot of milk i borrowed a few milk crates then once i finished i returned them.
