Well i bought a Freshwater Master Test Kit today and some API Stress Zyme which contains bacteria i put 70ml of stress zyme in and then 4 hours later i tested the water here's my results: PH= 8.0-8.2, Ammonia= 0.25-0.50ppm, Nitrite= 0 and Nitrate= 5.0-10.0ppm, i hope this helps now, plus the guy at exotic tropical fish told me it should be ready for the RD's next weekend and i'm hopefully picking them up next weekend because ive got a 4ft running in the shed now white sand, a filter which has been used and has lots of bacteria, so soon that will be ready for my red empresses and im only going to feed the fish once every 2-3 days while there in my 6ft what do you guys think?

Why don't you just wait 2-3 weeks until it is safe to put the fish in?

So am I and it sucks to have to wait, especially when you get a new tank. But it's just one of those things that you have to wait for

ok, today i washed my new pieces of driftwood and i tested the water again today, i know i'm not supposed to test it so often but i'm so eager to get the RD's in the tank and happy, I am hopefully picking the Rd's up on Sunday if my water conditions are ok for the fish to be happy, anyway my tests were: PH= 7.2-7.6, Ammonia= 0-0.25ppm, Nitrite= 0ppm and Nitrate= more close to 5.0ppm now. So yeah it's looking good at the moment, I have also started to realize that my white ceramic rings have got some green stuff on them, i took a picture and i'll upload it but is it algae or bacteria, may sound stupid but i have no idea what bacteria looks like if you can even see it so any help of you know what it is would be great, cheers Jamil.

Algae or bacteria or what? lol...

Hide the heaters behind/next to the filtration you have at either end of the tank, it will look better and save them from being broken by your new devils once they go in. In my experience heater guards are also a good option for when they get bigger.

Hope you enjoy your new fish once they are in but be aware that losing your fish is far more painful than the wait for your new fish 

Cheers mate, should i have the heaters near the intake of the filters or just anywhere near the filters? Cheers Jamil.

i dont understand "cycling your tank"..i mean, i know what it is (kinda) but ive never done it and never had any problems. is it a small tank problem or a malawi thing, a crock or what? my understading is that its to start off biolgical filtration in your tank/filter? so u just need poo? or decaying matter?

Read this will explain the Nitrogen cycle better than I can in a post. Would advise anyone getting into aquariums to at least familiarise themselves with the basics.
