Hi guys.
I've got a male and female juvi Aulonocara steveni about 2.5cm in a 1.5ft quarantine tank. I recently put a Aqua one led light on the tank. Before this the stevini's were swimming around fine. Now if I have the led light on they duck straight for cover (a couple of PVC joints). They don't seem to want to come out for food either. If I turn the light off after some time they'll start to swim around the tank again. My question is, is this normal behaviour for a peacock? Cheers.

These peacocks can be skittish - I have the Blue Neons and they are extremely skittish and tend to dislike any movement outside the tank. It does impact their feeding habits as well.

I have mine in with some non aggressive haps and that seems to help out with the feeding behaviours as once the haps go for the food, the peacocks come out to feed.

providing more cover can help fish feel less threatened in a tank and thus less skittish. Also more numbers. I've got a group of 9 rostratum in my tank and they aren't skittish at all - they feel safer in numbers
