Depends on what cichlids.
Dwarf cichlid species would be fine. As for large Americans, that would be a no no IMO. They would try to eat them and possibly get stuck in the cichlids throat.
As with most cats as soon as they are swallowed they stick out their pectoral fins and wedge themselves.
As for keeping with Africans.... different water conditions that most Cories wont like or be happy in.

i bought some fish recently of a private breeder and he swears by them over bristlenose as they produce less waste and are more active during the day

I have kept my bigger cories with cichlids (around 5 years old and very fat) but there is a massive species vebas sell which is around the 14cm mark which really should be fine. It's called a corydoras pulcher I'm pretty sure but anything that fits in its mouth will be eaten

Better off with clown loaches or synos
