added two bags full of live daphnia to the tank today... fish vs bugs... who will win??? my money is on the fish...

Thought I would throw up a couple of shot of my 6 foot outdoors: Rejects and trimmings tank,





Just runs

2 sponge filters and small power head for filtration,,
Lighting is a single T5 80 watt globe

Inhabitants

Cherry, CRS and Chameleon Shrimps

4 Peppermint Bristlenose
1 Albino shark

also 40 rummy nose (must be hiding lol ) in quarantine destined for the 5x2x2 Discus tank

I find the outdoor tank heaps of fun dont have to worry about spills. I will have to watch the temps during summer though,

Pardon my ignorance Tranced how come you can use sponge filters rather than canisters and the tank looks great? Doesn't it require media?

assuming iv assumed correctly
the tank you're talking about isnt tranced's tank

but im thinking it would have something to do with the fact its so large and understocked
so enough good bacteria has built up in the gravel, the sponge filter, and the water. and there isn't enough waste being produced to warrant a canister

correct me if im wrong anyone

sponge filters are actually quite good, just annoying to clean. my tank actually doesnt have any filtration at all, the greenwater and plants soak all the ammonia up before it can cause any problems
