Hi guys,

had 15 Cardinal Tetras in my community tank. They were all looking good (water checked, clean, no problems). Water also checked by fish shop just before we bought some Guppies.

This his morning I found one tetra stuck to the filter suction. Suction not strong enough to just pull it in. Then I found some remains of one Guppie in the corner.

This afternoon I found two more Guppies dead. Did some research and found that strong current may be contributing to the Guppie loss. Changed the flow allowing more quite spots and they all seemed to calm down.

This evening one Tetra started leaving the group and joining the Guppies. Acting like a Guppie. Just couple minutes ago I looked at the tank and the Tetra who thought was a Guppie :) started swimming funny and died.

O yes one more Tetra missing.

Water still in good condition. Not sure what could be going on. Any thoughts?

Thank you

Alem

EDIT: Can I feed the dead tetras and Guppies to the Cichilds?

water checked ?  what sort of water parameters do we currently have

temp ?

ammonia ?

nitrite ?

nitrate?

ph ?

kh ?

how long has tank been running for?

type of filtration?

water changes?

how did yo acclimatise the guppies?

do the fish have any kinda discolouration or spots?

need more information before we can isolate a possible cause :)

p.s. dont feed possible diseased fish until you know cause of death

Temp - 27.2C

Ammonia - 0

NO2 - 0

NO3 - between 0 and 20

pH - 7.5

kh - 120

there is one Tetra with a white spot. Looks like old injury not a growth. Still swimming strong.

Tank has originally been running for 2 weeks empty. Added sailfin plecos. week later 15 Cardinal Tetras, 6 days later Guppies.

Thanx

Alem

I wouldn't recommend feeding the dead fish to your cichlids.

The pleco is probably getting them at night, if they are not getting enough food wise they will hunt the fish at night when there sleeping.
