Hey, I've seen a lot of plain blue backgrounds around the place but I want black! Where can I get a black background for my 36"x14"x18".

The plain blue backgrounds are also black on the other side. I am talking about the glossy blue background that they sell at most LFS's. Check it out next time

Just get a piece of black card, will be a lot cheaper but also should look the same.

Otherwise you can paint it if you want a really even colour (get one of those paints that goes on thick and peels off)

Keep in mind you dont have to use aquarium backgrounds so dont restrict yourself to only those :p . If you need the aquarium version for some reason go to city farmers or your lfs.

Yeh, I have considered painting it but decided I'd rather not do something permanent.

Black on one side blue on the other would be great, I'll just have to check the other side of the blue ones next time I'm out! (I'm pretty sure last time I did it was white on the other side, just a one sided blue one).

Black cardboard stuff = black card you get from a stationary place or art shop (or somewhere like officeworks). There should hopefully be the right size card for a dollar or two. You might have to get two sheets perhaps.

Another idea is to get some of that black pvc plastic. You know the stuff they use as pond liners or similar (basically a black plastic sheet). You should be able to get this from a hardware store and it should be cheap and black (usually sold by the meter).

If you really want an aquarium background i think they are usually at fish shops or city farmers usually.
