Hi guys,

Just trying to chase down a sort of medication - praziquantel. Just wandering what are some brands/names of products that contain this. I got a blank stare for the person I asked at the fish shop today and couldn't find any medication with this as the base ingredient.

Cheers,
Jon

Hey Jon, Most LFS sell medication for gill fluke/worms. The active ingredient in most is Praziquantel. Ask another person at the counter or just go to another shop if the service is that bad.

Thanks for the reply chuckmeister. From what I gather most meditcation for gill fluke/worms is either formaldehyde or prazi based. I'd much rather use the prazi on my discus.

Cheers,
Jon

I think you will find the main ingredient in Drontil the dog wormer is Praziquantel, which is available from vets or pet suppliers.

praziquantel is the tapewormer for dogs. the trade name is droncit. howver it will not dissolve in water unless dissolved first in ethanol based liquid. make sure you get the dose right though. :good

I think you'll find that praziquantel even in its doggydose form is not cheaper than getting made for aquarium tabs .. :)

Vince is right - getting it from the vet is an expensive way to go about it beleive it or not. It works out quite a bit cheaper buying the aquarium version.
