I assumed they came on the rock look like hitch hikers. Cant argue with a bargain though, they may not survive but you've given them a better home than they would have been in a LR holding tank.

Lookin good. What's the substrate? Darker colour adds a nice contrast which u don't often see in marine tanks.

Is that a lil vortex pump on the side? How much that set u back? What lph is it rated at?

thanks mate smile.gif i toally agree about the substrate, its 'gray coast calcite'... costs an arm and a leg but very nice ash grey colour which i love!

and yes thats a litttle vortech u spotted... it also cost me an arm and a leg hahah so now i am basically a stump but i have a cool tank at least biggrin.gif

it does 750-6000 LPH. has various modes so it will randomise the flow rate or you can set it to do pulses of different wavelengths. it will automatically slow down for 10 hours at night and neat things like this. but was it worth the money? still undecided i will see how it goes smile.gif

well, i have decided the vortech is definately worth the money. they sure do cost a bit, but they take a steamin logan allover the competition really. the only problem is they are fairly noisy, but i guess thats the price you pay for a pump thats powerful enough to blow the seams out of your aquarium and collapse the stand! the modes are all very neat too i have mine on reef crest random mode and it ramps up and down providing a very natural looking (but not sounding) flow. its just plain fancy really.

the corals seem to really love the vortech. the SPS coral is starting to darken up a green colour and the brain coral that i thought was dead has started to come back to life. there is some other small zoo's and coral like thingies allover the rocks that have perked up and look like they will grow. definately worth it.

a koralia knockoff probably would have done the job for alot less, but i like quality gear. having said that, the vortech is made in china with a 1 year warranty so thats a bit alarming! lol

thanks to fish antics for some free corals. they seem to be doing well smile.gif
