Heiko was a hard act to follow, but I hope to be able to give some insights on what is really a rather complex subject.
To this end, I encourage anyone who has a question, or just some point/s they would like help in understanding to let me know: either here, or if preferred by PM. (This also helps me to ensure that I have at least the necessary, basic information to give the required help. )

I agree this is a potentially complex subject. I suggest keeping it as easy to understand and basic as possible for those without a scientific background (just as an example - not everyone may know what the words aerobic and anaerobic means when referring to bacteria, so words like that need to be explained). Then for those who are interested in a bit more information, maybe provide some links or pdf documents for download here after the meet.
I second the request about buffers and how they work - how does introducing limestone or wood impact on water chemistry, how much is too much, is there such a thing as too much etc.

Hi guys,
this is Heiko Bleher and I see you have a new event coming up. It is a tough subject and I wish you all the best. Just keep in mind: Whatever the chemistry of the water is, the most important is that you know where your fish comes from - and that is the chemistry of the water parameters and temperature to be applied to your (this particular) fish. And not what is written in a book or suggested. There are sometime giant differences, specially if the fish comes from a breeding place. Or a petshop which has kept it for some time.

I'd be interested in ways to maintain pH levels when doing large weekly water changes. Are there other options instead of dosing or pre-preparing in tubs.

Thanks to Syd for tackling what is a very complex topic. And from the number of audience questions (which I think was the most of any talk I've attended) there seems to be a lot of uncertainty when it comes to water.
