Long story short mother and father in law moved interstate, I adopted her tank and occupants all of which she could only tell me that they were cichlids.

she insists this one is an oscar, others telling me its a hard to come by female true gt and a few Facebook groups have said it's not a true gt but the other...sigh.

I only want to know which it is so I can source out a same species tank mate since I've recently moved her into a new tank.

I am 100% certain she isnt an oscar lol

please help me finally id

The attached picture is actually the fish in question not a google search image.

Just FYI

Cheers

Hey,
It looks like a White edge Green Terror.
There is two types we get in Oz.
Gold Saum Green Terror - Has an orange edge around the fins
White edge GT / or just called a GT.

Sometimes the WEGT are harder to come by as they aren't usually sort after like the GSGT.
Personally I prefer the WEGT when in full color.

Hard to properly see from my iPhone but in my opinion the above pic appears to be a female due to its rounded dorsal fin.
Makes usually have a trailing dorsal.
I'm sure if you asked one of the sponsor shops they would be able to get one in for you. Vebas might be your closet port of call.

id say female aswell, but in that pic the shape of the mouth seems a lil off, bit like a blue dolphin or something, all my GT's have a more smooth front

Looks like Andinoacara blombergi to me, admittedly not a Central/South American expert.

Female silver saum, for sure. But it looks like a common oz GT not a true GT.
If you go through some old posts there's a few people talking about the difference between these.

Aquotix have many of these and the gold saums all the time normally.
