I toyed with the idea of a stand/cabinet and was chatting to a couple from the USA (through MFK) about their stand they built.
They were going to send through plans but never did. The idea died a natural death after that.

Maybe later in the year I might have a go. I have spent waaaayyyy too much dough on this so far.
Quick approximate breakdown;

Tank $800
Trailer Hire from Kal to collect $240
Glass and labour to repair $250
Sump $250
Fittings, Pipe, Sealant etc $350 (from Bunnings and always buy too much)
Pump $280
Media and Substrate $160
Heaters $100
Over $2300 not counting the water I have used so far.
Probably not so bad when you think of the cost of a new tank....

I might wait for my bank balance to recover before spending any further large sums on this set up.

It is a massive tank and should provide some enjoyment and a larger home to some of the bigger fish I have accumulated.
When I move to Perth I would like to go for something bigger but that will be another story...........

Thanks
Dion

G'day Dion,

thanks for sharing the details.

Any other MFK fans or Monster Tank owners in Kal? We have seen a couple through here over the years but not many.

all the best, tank looks great. very jealous.
It is amazing how much we spend, housing a special pet fish.

cheers

Thanks Mudjimba

I have not found anyone else with the 'sickness' like myself in town.
There are a few keeping fish, and I have searched the forums for contacts, but have come up with little.

I am slowly converting some of my workmates but other than that the big tanks and fish are entertainment when 'entertaining' (and for my own pleasure of course).

I don't know if anyone else would go through what I go through for fish.
I have driven Kalgoorlie to Perth and return (in a single day) more times than I can remember buying fish from you guys. There is not much to choose from here, which is understandable given the population.

If you love what you're doing, just keep doing it.......
