My 2 (assumed pair) have been fighting real bad lately and have amazing colours at the moment, gills flared and fluro red.

Have a read of that mate, written by one of our old members who bred them a few years ago. Id be fairly confident that your current bass probably originate from his.

Males get it, females dont.
Looks like a pair to me.
Female looks fat with eggs too

Be careful if they do spawn, the rays may cop it.

this should be done at a more juvinal stage however as it will stress them out at this age.
the second bass could be a male this could give you some understanding of why they are being agressive towards each other my bass dont normally fight each other only males, also get a large smooth rock for the tank.

Male and female for sure...!!
Got home from the gym to see all the fish barred on one end of the tank and the bass lookin staunch. Upon investigating piece of driftwood covered in eggs! Sam johns is gonna bump some pics up for us.
Unfortunatly I can't move them else where as I don't have a spare tank ATM, and am not prepared.
Now light off and all fish are mingeling together no probs, I'm assuming the rays will snack on the eggs. Gonna set up a 2 ft tank this weekend to prep in case another spawn.
Stoked!! If only the rays or birches bred.

Upon having a look this morning all the eggs are gone. My suspicion, the rays, as soon as lights out last night, the 2 scootered over to the bit of drift wood.
Bass have calmed down, and arent harrasing any one no more, thank god.
any one know much about other bass species floating around atm??

I had Temensis a couple years ago. I sold mine once thety got to about 40cm and they got there in record time. Most of the adults I have seen since then have suffered from HITH, not exactly sure why. I really don't rate Temensis as aquarium fish, far too large and powerful for most people to deal with, adults make a 6x2x2 look like a plastic wrapped rain drop.

Thems get a little too big however id probably get them if i were offered some. would love another bass or two and eventually another ray (maybe a morph variety)
Really diggin the idea of an aussie native tank too lately. Just bought my own house so thinking of 2 or 3 awesome display tanks.
