i thought it would be a good idea to start thread seeing how much interest there is in natives and new guinea fish

my list currently consists of: a very interactive agro spangled perch, some wc m. australis which look like the ord river variant but they aren't from the ord river, a trio of m. pygmae and some peacock gudgeons.

so, what are you keeping?

Hey,

Well I don't know the scientific names for them all, but I'll do my best.

I've got:
Barcoo Grunter
Golden Eeltail
M. herbertaxelrodi (Lake Tebeka)
M. splendida splendida (Eastern)
M. boesmani
M. duboulayi
Hypeseleostris compressa (Empire gudgeon)

I also have white cloud minnow which I got told were natives but I'm pretty sure they're actually from China

We have a colony each of :-

Melanotaenia Boesemani, M.parkinsoni, M.praecox, M.herbertaxelrodi, Glossolepis incisis, plus some unknown species.

These are all in the community tank so if they do breed the fry won't last long.
Also growing-on a trio of Rhadinocentrus ornatus but probably going to sell them as the tank is a bit overstocked.

hey jack

they are at the moment, thats not to say they will be in the future. they are only about 6 to 10cm except for the sara which is 15cm.
they are living as friends at the present but only time will tell they are all growing very quickely. i have a couple of other tanks ready to go if i need to split them up.

luke

p.s. if any one noticed the ghost knife is not a native its brazilian i think.

hope it works out for you. just keep an eye on the saratoga they have a tendency to turn when you least expect it. over night i have seen fish of the same length get torn to pieces by saratogas.

yeah did notice that hahaha
