I'm working on a mine site up in the north west in the middle of bloody nowhere and there's some fish in the man made bore water holding dams. The water quality looks fantastic as we use it for drinking. No idea how these little dudes got in here as there are pumps on either end. I'm sure its some local native fish and some of them are around 20cm in size. They are green in colour, have quite large eyes. I've got some ideas as to what they might be but I'm after some opinions?

Sorry for the crap pictures, they were hard to photo and i only had my phone.

I think greenways grunter is the closest - even though they might not have been recorded that for south.... does not mean they can reach that area during floods or by human transfer.

my first thought was also spangled due to the locality...but these guys aren't as slim.

Well i've managed to catch some thanks to my new fish trap net! Turns out they are actually spangled perch. Really great looking fish as you can see. I'll probably still see if i can bring some smaller ones home for the tank or pond, ive done some research and it looks like they are tough as nails.
