I've seen a few wanted ads lately for eels, I've got a couple that are 10-12cm at work, if anyone is keen PM me and I can hook you up :)

Back when I was first getting into fish I saw an ad for a freshwater eel (wasnt a spiney eel) and was apparently 1m long, any of these around and what's the actual name? Or was the ad full of bulloni

probably an australian short fin, easily reach a metre, could have been a long fin but their harder to find and grow much larger. Have a look at the native displays thread theres a poor headshot of a 800mm sf

Yeah Andrew the spiny only gets around a foot long but there's plenty of species that get 3-4ft quite easily, super beast feeders too, they love a whole goldfish... :)
The species I kept a few years back was an 'Anguilla australis', easy get to a metre in length the females especially!

just watching monster fish today and the dude was in new zealund! looking at the eels - in rivers and lakes then migrated through deep channel to fiji... quite interesting... and the bigger eels were 5 foot in length and called long finned eels and there were also marbled eels in fiji.... pretty cool when he was swimming with them at night... like a big wall of eel in his face... harmless to humans.... not sure about that they have big mouths and strong jaws....
