Red Dirt

Ok, im in shark bay and here we have red dirt / sand. Would this be able to go in a natives tank or will the metal kill them? The reason i say that is i know that its red from rust and possibly iron. I have no idea on anything about the sand and if its been done before. Thanks in advance

I wouldn't the dirt and sand are overloaded with minerals  mainly leavearite

Ok, is there any stuff i can get to go in there thats like the red dirt? Say crushed gravel etc.
