Senegal Birchir Has Stopped Swimming

any birchir people out there? my senegal has stopped swimming - he still eats and his front flippers still function but he doesn't seem to be able to move his body - any thoughts?

flaps his front fins then does nothing else - when i picked him up off the bottom and lifted him higher in the water he sank back to the bottom

Can't remember off the top of my head the numbers but everything is routine between 30-50% water change once a week and the other fish in there are all fine (monos scat tandanus butis butis)

I have read about polys getting spinal injuries. I think terry is the guy you need, I'll give him a call and see if he can comment

 I don't think I can help with this one, it sounds like he may have been injured. There have been a few cases where senegals  get very lethargic and then die, it usually starts with a slight pink tinge to the fins which gradually gets worse, has there been any change in his colour?

I don't know of a cure.

thanks for your input Terry - I haven't noticed any discolouration but I will take a look when I get home tonight.

 

Androo - despite the sad situation that is friggen funny!! perhaps i will attach a little motor to his tail hahaha
