Scientific Name: Aulonocara rostratum
Pronunciation: A-loo-no-car-a ross-stra-tum
Trade Name(s): Longnose Peacock
Distribution: Lake Wide, Natural habitat is Mdoka, Msuli Point, Kande Island, Luwala & Chimwalani Reefs & Hongi Island.
Habitat: Sandy areas in open water from 15 to 30mtrs
Diet: Snails & other Invertebrates
Sexing: Males are light blue,
Females are silver.
Maximum Size: 20cm
Temperature: 24 to 26c
pH: 7.5 to 9.0
Water Hardness: 300-400ppm
Availability: Available in Oz. They don't appear that often and I haven't heard of many breeding them.
This species is one of the larger Peacocks, they also have a very long 'nose', One would suggest they sense for finding food in the sand would be possibly heightened because of their long nose.
