Scientific Name: Labidochromis sp. 'perlmutt'
Pronunciation: Lab-id-e-o-cro-mis species pearl-mutt
Trade Name(s): Perlmutt
Distribution: Higga Reef, Ngkuyo Island & Mbamba Bay
Habitat: Rocky areas.
Diet: Aufwuchs, Algae, Insects.
Sexing: Male's are a 'mother or pearl' color with dark black/yellow barring with a yellow dorsal.
Females are the same color but not as intense.
Maximum Size: 9cm
Temperature: 24 to 26c
pH: 7.5 to 9.0
Water Hardness: 300-400ppm
Availability: Rarely Available in Oz.
Comments: A very pretty Mbuna that displays well in a Mbuna display tank. They are a rare species in Australia, but with some breeders in QLD & WA they will hopefully make a comeback.
They are also very rare in the Lake. Not overly aggressive and make a perfect addition to a small aquarium (3-4ft)
