Scientific Name: Melanochromis lepidiadaptes
Pronunciation: Melen-o-chro-mis lep-pidy-ap-tus
Trade Name(s):
Distribution: Makanjila Point
Habitat: Shallow Reefs
Diet: In the wild they are known to be a scale eater, but in the aquarium they will take flake/pellets etc
Sexing: Males are a light blue with black lines running the length of the body, females are yellow/white with the same black lines.
Maximum Size: 9cm
Temperature: 24-25c
pH: 7.5 to 9.0
Water Hardness: 300-400ppm
Availability: Not seen that often in Oz, but not known as rare either.
Comments: Only 3 attacks on other fishes scales have been reported in the aquarium, all three have been on Nimbochromis sp.
