Posted by 25GTT on 08 July 2014 - 08:11 PM

Photos below show standard longin bristlenose, well coloured up and longfins starting to grow nicely, kinda hidden on the piece of wood though so I do apologise for my photography skills

Secondly, elec yellows colouring up very well.

All fed with both Sera Flora flakes, Hikari Algae discs and New Life Spectrum Cichlid formula. Only the best for my fish :-)

Got about 30 longfin bristlenose both regular and albino. Just looked at the last 5 posts and it's amazing fish so many miles away from each other but all the bristlenose seem to be having babies at same time!

Def breeding season :)

Group hug then? :)

Most importantly yet again this great forum has proven to be a wonderful information resource to a new hobbyist of whom we managed to assist.

I live in tapping so right next to you in currambine.

There is a good City Farmers there in Currambine near the shops, Jetts gym and dan Murphys etc.

Also Pet proffesionals on Wanneroo Rd is pretty good.

Both have heaps of stock!

These are my two hangouts for most things. If i do want something really specialised and unique then i head into Seaview in Balcatta.

I know for you seasoned breeders this may come accross a little dull, but remember your first time ;-)

Three months ago for the first time ever I had a fish have babies. An electric yellow.

I seperated her from the babies and 6 weeks later she had another 25, seperated her and put her back in the tank (I have 55 electric yellows!)

Well, lastnight i had a look at her to see how she was settling in..... pregnant again! $lut of a fish! i am running out of 50litre aquariums.

Just wanted to share my jubilation and frustration in one post!

The first 30 she had are about 3-4cm now so i might do a trade in at the LFS.

For years ive been keeping fish but never had any babies.... now success!

4 weeks ago my electric yellow had 32 fry, at the same time i now count 16 longfin bristlenose from the 5 i had sitting there for ages.

I placed the electric yellow back in my big tank and 4 weeks later she's got a mouthfull of fry again!
