Posted 14 August 2010 - 09:50 AM
It's on again, September is going to be the PCS auction (7th of September) and in preparation I would like to start taking bookings for lots.
Venue & time info info here (click)
PM me or post here and make sure to include the following:
Name - common and scientific, size, number, sex where possible and a reserve if wanted.
* Doors will open at 7pm or earlier, please come early with lots so they can be processed before 8pm.
* Lots (selling) are only open to Club Members but you can become one on the night. Anyone can bid / buy. General Public are welcome to attend.
* If you have a picture of the actual fish you would like to use for the slide, send it to me with the lot details and I'll have it up when your lot is up for auction.
* Lots will be accepted on the night but would prefer to have them pre-booked before hand so everything runs smoother.
* There is a limit of lots that are brought and booked in on the night which is now 5 per person, hence pre-bookings are encouraged. There is no limit on the number of lots that are pre-booked.
* Fish bagged incorrectly will not be accepted. No sandwich bags or ziplock bags allowed. There will be a $1 charge for the re-bagging of fish
Please familiarize yourself with the full Auction by-laws here - CLICK ME
If you have any queries feel free to ( pm me ) or any of the Committee Members.
Cheers
Brad.

Pre-booking is important in that respect so we have an idea of what species we'll have and can get pics and info ready.

I like the idea of this, but auctions in the past seem to have gone till around 11:30, wouldnt spending more time explaining the fish make the auction go even later?
It is a Tuesday night, people have work/school etc.
Perhaps we could look at doing auctions on a saturday if you want to spend more time explaining the lots, and then it doesnt matter as much if they go over, might get more of a turn out as well.
Also, the lots that are pre-booked, do they need explaining? People can research them themselves in their own time if they want.

We are looking at several strategies to make the auctions more enjoyable, and if we can educate at the same time that's even better!
Craig will be posting up some other things we want to try out, but they will not affect the auction next week.
In regards to the info for pre-booked lots - you have to remember that not everyone at the auction is on the forum and even if they are, they may not have looked at the auction post

No size has been given for the rhodesii but all fish must be a min 3cm so they will be at least that.
