This may be of some help.

From aquariumlife.com.au

WA rules for importing aquatics
I have been getting more emails about sending aquarium ornamental products to WA.

I just called WAQIS who told me they inspect all live shipments for plant material and aquatic snails. Any aquatic plants will be treated with copper sulphate (this usually kills most plants).

I asked about fish, crustaceans and molluscs. I was directed to WA Fisheries who determine what species are allowed. My shrimps, snails and molluscs are identified and provenanced so you should be able to get a decision from Fisheries. I tried to call Craig Astbury 08 9482 7385 and Stephanie Turner 08 9482 7287 for answers but have had trouble getting through.

If anybody wants to import aquatic life into WA you will have to follow this process to remain on the right side of people charged with protecting the fish reservs and the environment.

Cheers
Dave

The last thing you want is for your $35 shrimp to be seized and destroyed...

I believe there was a restriction on all crustaceans entering into WA, but now it seems there is a short list, you can find this through my article
"Fish Species Declared as Noxious & Restricted in WA"

or see link below:
http://www.perthcich...h...pic&t=11479

so I believe there is no restriction on shrimps, according to this list.

Heres the info

Freshwater shrimp ALLOWED into WA
Good news folks. As the title suggests, I have confirmed with the translocation officer at Fisheries WA and WAQUIS that the importation of Caridina sp of shrimp (eg those from the Aquagreen) are allowed into WA.

Note that any species of Macrobrachium or Cherax shrimp species ARE NOT permitted without written translocation authority and you must notify the department of fisheries if you have any intention of breeding these (Caridina) species commercially or if you intend to undertake research projects with them.

Drop me a PM if you need further details.

Happy shrimping

Cheers

Gavin
