Not too sure about the Demasoni, I've kept one male before but he was crazy, bossed everyone around even fish 2-3 times his size! The one he would pick on the most was my elongatus. Then one day the elongatus decided he'd had enough and became top fish. Now my demasoni is very well behaved but has lost his dominant colouration. I'm pretty sure you can't keep them with Afra or similar looking mbuna.

I also have an EY which can be kept with just about anything.

The rest of my Malawis are mostly peacocks plus
Mbuna: cobalt blue zebra & msobo
'Haps': red empress, venustus, borleyi kadangos, moorii, electric blue and some other randoms.

I don't have many mbuna because they're not my thing and can be difficult to sort out aggression. Most people probably would not recommend mixing mbuna, haps and peacocks like I have but it's working out pretty well so far for me. The only aggression I really have is between peacocks.

Demanosi are probably one of the most aggresive malawis for their size and I wouldnt think they would be very pleasant in a community malawi tank,

In my malawi tank i have acei ngara,e/yellow,albino peacock and copidachromis trewavasae which all get on pretty well, Make sure you google as much info on a particular species to learn about its compatability and agression before buying then ending up disheartend with many deaths that could be avoided.

Also overcrowding malawis helps with aggresion problems but you have to have excellent filtration and solid water changing regimes or disaster will strike.

Cheers
Craig

I never found Dem's that agro, I have kept them with other Mbuna with out hassle.
Keep some Haps with them and you should be fine. Electric Blues, Kandango reds etc, When your in the shop next I'll show some that will go with them no probs, BUT you will need to buy fish of similar size or larger.

And as Craig said, Over crowding works wonders. As long as your filter can handle it.

Protomelas taeniolatus 'Fire Blue' Kind of looks like a Peacock, but is not related. If you get ones large enough, they will be OK with Dem's & EY's
Don't put Pseudotropheus estherae with the Dem's they will cross breed.

Hey Vivi, didnt know you were interested in malawi's. If I had known I would have shown you my tank. With regards to your question about M Esterae, I have 1 ATM and I did seel a colony off about 18 months ago so some should be about. I think I seen some @ Vebas, Pacco could confirm this though. You willl not have many problems with Ey's and Esterae x breeding as IMO EY will occupy your rocky area and Esterae will more likely occupy the open water. If your around my area again, give me a call and you can see one in person...

I have 2 Metriaclima Esterae "Red Zebra's" and 2 EY along with a single Dem (along with other malawi's) and they all get along fine. Bought one zebra from Vebas and the other from Malaga, so yes, they are available in a few stores.
