thanks t1gger,  but i'm looking for just an ornate specie.

Senegals, delhezi and endlichere had become common now as there are a few viable pair out there.

Do you have many connections for the other bichirs then?

Common may not be the best term in this situation.

theres a special secret society of bichir owners.  i was booted off the club so not connected anymore after one week of joining.  I was just enquiring where they've sourced there juvies and nobody can give a straight answer.  if you can tap one member to share where they get there juvies, you'll know that it is common but will cost a lot.  Species they have are senegals, delhezi and endli.

There's also an endli on a shop here if anybody's interested $1.2k for a 10-15cm mark.

Last ornate trio that Ive heard on gumtree (Sydney area) sold for $6k.  That was about 1-2years ago, and hoping we hear of juvies from that but have not heard any news yet.  Ive given my details to the seller to pass on the buyer but have not heard from the other party.  I have not seen any ornates other than that, or I missed it.

interesting.

shame ppl can be greedy and not wish to share such fish amongst a general community of fish keepers. none the less hopefully we some in the future.

as for the ornates -  Vebas aquariums had a one eyed specimen a while ago, and as Androo stated there was one on gumtree where the buyer made a d!ck of himself.

Happy to share with everybody if I get lucky on my project.  The more people that can keep an eye for an ornate, the better chance I'll be able to get more specimen.

What do you mean "share with everybody" if you get lucky with your project.

As in free baby ornates for all?
What is your project?
Why you get booted out?

Sorry for all the questions

Also which shop is the endli at?

Will keep an eye out for ornates but they are very rare

Let's talk about sharing when we get there.  As of now, they are not doing the deed properly.  I'm thinking of just handing it over to an expert to do it as I'm not a breeder.  I need to make a decision this month whether my pair stays in Brisbane or move out to Sydney.  Extra cash will be handy.

This pseudo group have not replied (email, txt, pm) why I've got booted, but don't care anymore.  I know you have read my email as I have read receipt on that.

For the shop, look up Red Dragon in Darra.

Agree that Ornates are rare but they are around, owners just want to keep them as they are the most beautiful of the polypterus species - my opinion may not be same with everybody though.   I have owned 5 mature specie and ended up with my current pair.  It'll take 4-5years for them to reach maturity and they are lovely fish to keep.  One jumped out, one died for no apparent reason, and one was lost on a silly bet.
