Position your powerheads/the flow of your filters, tweak it so all your waste accumulates in one section of your tank. Maintenance is easy with a barebottom mate. Imagine trying to clean that muck with gravel? It would be a nightmare.

Check ya phone mate just sent you a pic.

After listening to Mark say "Ray waste breaks down quite quickly and is good for benficial bacteria" I leave it to do its thing and I just suck the excess waste out weekly. The water quality still stays great.

I hate the way big spiral ray crap looks on my nice clean barebottom tank though. I have full OCD cranking over a dirty glass bottom... Means I forever have my head in a tank.

Found one this arvo' that a dog would be proud to claim.

Haha. Yeah I would probably be the same if I had as much building up as what you would!

Be a bit different going through canisters compared to a sump. Easy for me just to hose out a couple of matts weekly.

I keep all my mechanical media in my above tank trickle filter. Makes changing and cleaning it way easier, just lift the lid and pull it out. Not a fan of cleaning cannisters.

I think the eheim quick vac would get clogged by tankbusters in about 5 seconds flat. Would probably have a real tough time lifting large pieces of crap.

There is no substitute for rolling up your sleeves and getting wet.

"there is no short cut to any place worth going"

Use a fine mesh long handled net for spot cleaning.

Or you can just use a 25mm long peice of flexi pond hose. That will suck any waste out!! That's what I use once a week or when needed anyway.

You'll be using Vaseline when you're in your 70's mate.

Must be reason enough to buy another.

Highly trainable, until they learn English.
