Anyone know of any native fish that will happily help me out in reducing my snail population. It's a newly established tank ready for some rainbows. Any suggestions? Thanks.

when you say eel tail catfish, which species you guys refer too? and will they eat MTS?

Tandanus tandanus and the Neosilurus ater do for certain. I imagine all the available eeltails will do the job though... they are all equipped in much the same fashion and feed pretty similarly.
I would be picking up a N. hyrtlii from Pet Magic for the job... Shayne and Leichardti are catfish gurus and both have N. hytlii.

Tandanus have a nasty streak... not sure I would want to keep expensive fish with them.
Probably wouldnt be too keen on them if there is other food available... rendahls are generally pretty small so if there was other food available they wouldnt make much of a dent in them.

Most creeks should be able to hook you up. Doesn't help but on east coast these are the "feeder prawns" in most LFS.
