The only way you can ensure your solar system decreases emissions is to retain your REC's, by selling your REC's (which end up with the electricity suppliers) you allow them to continue generating at current, or even higher levels while meeting their obligations with the governments renewable energy targets scheme.

It's environmental credentials are dubious, but it is a great way to get people into solar. Without it, solar would be out of reach for so many more people.

That is one way of looking at it.

However if the panels are on the roof of your house, They are offsetting your carbon emmissions. I dont really care what some certificate says or what government policy is.
Thats my theory anyway!

I didnt know anything about this side of things...it was still 20 grand!!!

Also people who are waiting to add panels or to install systems, I dont know if I would be waiting longer...

Government subsidies were due to be reduced but in order to get the flood levy through parliament gillard had to promise the greens to reinstate/add to it.
