In the interests in getting some native visibility out there, awareness, appreciation and interest. I present the following pictures
Chilatherina bleheri *Fish Courtesy of "Brian" "

Melanotaenia trifasciata "Goyder River" "Personal Collection"

Apologies for the frozen food floating around in both pictures

Iriatherina werneri "Personal Collection"

Threadfin Rainbows are quite possibly the most difficult fish to photograph tongue.gif

Thank you

Nnnnice! show me more!!!!!
Rainbowfish are probably one of the most under-rated fish in Perth, I wish people would take more notice of them, they are universal as a community fish for most situations in most water qualities.
If anyone else has good pics of their 'bows, show em.

Good one Saj.

Thanks for the props guys smile.gif

No pictures have been edited or enhanced, only resized. I wanted to share with others the fish that I think we all tend to forget about. Sure the bleheri aren't from Australia but they are part of our fishes of Sahul.

Threadfins are quite possibly one of the most underated fish in the hobby, along with Pseudomugil spp. If anyone gets the chance, please do yourself a favour and give them a go. I waited years before I saw them in a shop, and they where a fish I always wanted to get.

Full tank shots are not out of the question. I primarily got this camera to take pictures of fish and I think when the novelty wears off and my planted tanks have settled in from a period of rearranging there will certainly be tank shots up on another forum wink.gif

Now..... If only I had that macro lens

Hi Chris,

I know this is an older thread, but I absolutely love the pics. It's really suprising that you don't see many rainbow fish in community tanks. Especially when they are an ideal choice for a community tank. Will try and get some pics of the different rainbow fish I have in my community tank. It's proving very difficult as they such active swimmers. I know I posted these two pics previously, but when I visited the Perth Zoo in December 2013, I saw some really pretty rainbow fish:

Hey Jason,

On a day out with the girlfriend she could not get why I kept staring into the large croc exhibit at the zoo (considering the croc was not even in it as he was catching rays in his outside pool). The reason was those rainbows!!! Huge and awesome, easily the best enclosure at the zoo hahaha. I would love for this thread to be revived and for people to post their rainbow pictures as well as with the types they have. I got rid of my Australian rainbows about 6 - 8 months ago and now only keep New Guinea rainbows, but they are hard to come by. Would love to add different types to my collection of Bleheri, Boesemani, Kamaka, Lacustris and Praecox (Got rid of the Maccoullochi as I they were the Queensland variety).

Might try to chuck some pictures up here.
